All boats must be currently registered and equipped in accordance with State Law before launching.

Aquatic Nuisance Species Inspections

All vessels are required to be inspected for Aquatic Nuisance Species (Zebra Mussels, et al.) prior to launching. ANY BLUE RECEIPT or OUT-OF-STATE seal/receipt will not be accepted at Boyd Lake for pre-inspection purposes!

2024 ANS Inspection Hours:

  • March (when open to boating): 8am - 6pm (Decon: 9am-5pm)
  • April: 7am - 7pm (Decon: 8am-6pm)
  • May - Labor Day: 6am - 9pm (Decon: 7am-8pm)
  • September 3rd-30th: 6am - 8pm (Decon: 7am-7pm)
  • October: 7am - 7pm (Decon: 8am-6pm)
  • November: 8am - 6pm (Decon: 9am-5pm)

Colorado Boating Safely Classes

Effective June 1, 2024, anyone under 18 years old (14 yrs. to 17yrs.) will have to take and complete the Boating Safely course to operate a boat in Colorado.

The Heron Cove (north) ramp is used for launching Jet Skis (personal watercraft) and sailboats only. These vessels must still be inspected at the ANS station at the main boat ramp.

Campgrounds

CONSTRUCTION in Loop A has begun (10/2023-TBD)! Please keep out of the construction area! Heavy machinery, large trucks, and construction workers are in the area. Campground Loop A is under construction, and you will not be able to reserve a site in this loop until construction is completed, projected opening TBD.

Campground Loop A/B Laundry Facility is OPEN. Please Note: Change is not readily available. Laundry Machines can be paid for by utilizing the app posted in the facility.

ALL camping reservations at Boyd Lake are done by calling 1-800-244-5613; please listen to the message in its entirety to speak to an agent or visit us online at cpwshop.com.

Boyd Lake State Park campground has 140 excellent, paved, electrical ONLY, pull-through campsites, which can accommodate tents, pick-up campers, trailers, and motor homes up to 40’ in length.

  • Clearance at the entry gate is 14 feet 2 inches.

Reservations

The maximum number of nights in any state park is no more than 14 days in any 28 day period. This restriction is for anyone staying on the campsite and any camping unit, whether or not they are formally listed on the reservation. You must have a daily or annual parks pass for every vehicle entering the park.

  • Check out time for the campsite is 12:00 noon
  • Check in time for campsites is 1:00 pm.

Cancellations or Changes to a Reservation

If customers would like to cancel, change, or inquire about a refund, please call 1-800-244-5613.

Amenities

All sites have 20, 30, and 50 amp electric hookups. Each site has a picnic table, grill, and fire pit. Showers are located in camper services buildings between loops. During winter, the only bathroom building that’s open is between A/B loops, with flush toilets and coin-operated showers. No laundry facilities are available during the winter. A dump station is located at the top of the campground for campers only.

Dump Station

Our dump station is located west of our campground. DUMP STATION USE IS FOR REGISTERED CAMPERS ONLY. Non-campers who would like to use it must pay for a “dumping permit” at the gate or Park Office when they are open. If the Park Office or gate is not open, please call 1-800-244-5613 or reserve a campsite online at cpwshop.com. If the campground is full and the office or gate options are unavailable, the dump station cannot be used.

Entrance Station

The Entrance Station is located at 3720 N. County Road 11C, Loveland, CO. There is only one entrance into the park.

When the entrance gate is unmanned, you must utilize the self-service kiosk just past the entrance on the right, or come to the Visitor Center/Park Headquarters to purchase passes and permits.

You may pay for a daily pass with cash, check, or credit card at the self-service kiosk. A “voucher” for a regular Annual Pass ($80) or Family Hangtag Annual ($120) may be purchased at the credit card kiosk. The “voucher” can be redeemed at any state park or CPW office and MUST be redeemed within 30 days of purchase. Special annual park passes and Aspen Leaf Annual Passes can only be purchased at CPW office locations.

KEEP COLORADO WILD annual pass can be purchased at the DMV upon the renewal of your vehicle license plate for $29. Please have your registration ready to show to an entrance gate attendant, stickers will not be issued. Plates can be run and pass purchase verified by Park Rangers.

Please note: The 30-day grace period given to renew license plates in Colorado does not apply to the Keep Colorado Wild Pass.

Event Facilities

Mariner Point Group Picnic Area Facility: OPEN for the season

The Mariner Point Group Picnic Area is open from approximately mid-May to September 30 for use and is available by paid reservation only. This picnic area is open on the day of reservation from 9 AM-9 PM. All events must be concluded, and the area vacated at 9 PM.

Groups of up to 200 people can reserve the Mariner Point group picnic area located on a secluded peninsula just north of the marina cove. This private area includes a covered pavilion, twenty picnic tables (8 feet long), 2 fire grills, many electrical outlets, 2 food preparation countertops, water, a sink, a restroom facility, and a fireplace. A volleyball court, horseshoe pits, and a private playground area are located next to the covered facility. The facility also has a private parking lot. There is a boat ramp located on the peninsula, which affords the ability to pull a boat up to the area. You cannot launch a vessel from here.

RENTAL COST

  • Weekdays: $90.00 (Mon-Fri)
  • Weekends: $180.00 (Sat, Sun)

Fishing Piers

The ADA Fishing Pier is OPEN at the Marina Inlet. There is a paved path from the parking lot to the dock that meets ADA specifications.

Food Service

The Swim Beach concession shop is OPEN FOR THE SEASON. Boyd Lake Concessions is the food vendor at the Swim Beach for Boyd Lake State Park.

Group Picnic Area

Mariner Point Group Picnic Area Facility: OPEN

The GPA can accommodate up to 200 guests (subject to change with the county’s status for COVID-19)! The Group Picnic Area has a great view of the Park and the mountains in the distance. The GPA has twenty 8’ picnic tables and two large serving counters. It also has many amenities, including a beach volleyball pit, horseshoe pits, playground equipment, a fireplace, and BBQ grills. This is a perfect location somewhat isolated from the rest of the Park. We often host school and business groups. This is also a great site for an outdoor wedding.

If your Group wishes to have a special activity at your event, including sponsored activities and advertised events regardless of size, any large organized gatherings over 40 people such as baptisms, races, family reunions, dog training, etc. or any short term commercial use where any money OR SERVICES are exchanged at the park, please find applications and instructions on the Group Picnic Area page.

Marina

Boyd Lake Marina Inc.

General store and boat rentals - at main boat ramp. The Marina Store is OPEN for the season.

NEW: Boyd Lake Marina website has online boat rental reservations here!

The Marina has the following vessels for rent: fishing boats, pontoon boats, wave runners, canoes, kayaks, and paddle bikes. They also have slip and mooring rentals available (there is a current “wait-list” for boat slips).

(The Marina is located inside Boyd Lake State Park - must purchase a daily or annual park pass to access this business).

Starting May 1: Summer Hours of Operation:

  • Sunday-Friday: 9 AM to 6 PM
  • Saturday: 9 AM to 7 PM

The Marina will have firewood and ice at the store (supplies will vary). The Marina carries:

  • live bait - worms only
  • other fishing supplies
  • limited camping supplies
  • boating safety equipment such as life jackets, fire extinguishers, horns, etc.

Please note that when coming into Boyd Lake State Park to purchase gas or any other item from The Marina, you must have or purchase a parks pass to enter the park. Just a reminder: Colorado State Parks require that your boat and trailer registrations be current before launching. Also, swimming is PROHIBITED in the Marina Bay. This includes in and around your boat, slip, or mooring.

The Visitor Center/Office is where you may register your boat, OHV, or snowmobile and purchase various passes, permits, and fishing and hunting licenses.

Picnic Sites

Boyd Lake State Park features 67 individual picnic sites. These sites are available “first-come-first-serve.” Some have a shelter, and most have a grill at the site.

The Mariner Point Group Picnic Area is also available on a paid reservation basis.

Showers

Showers are available at each of the three buildings in the campground, situated between Loop A-B, Loop C-D, & Loop E-F. .

PLEASE NOTE: November 1st each year we will revert to our winter schedule, which means that only the restroom/showers on A/B Loop will be open and the laundry facilities will have limited availability until total shutdown in the winter.

Swim Beach

The designated swimming area at the Swim Beach is OPEN. Bathrooms at the Swim Beach are OPEN.

The Boyd Lake State Park swim beach provides cool relief on Colorado’s hot summer days. A pavilion at the beach includes rinsing showers, restrooms, a playground, picnic tables, and Fun Foods snack bar where you can purchase food and other items.

For the safety and enjoyment of our visitors, the following is prohibited in the designated swim beach:

  • glass containers,
  • charcoal grills,
  • fishing,
  • open fires,
  • pets

Open swimming is allowed anywhere in Boyd Lake, except it is prohibited to swim on state-park managed properties:

  • From sunset to sunrise.
  • Within or 150 feet from: any boat ramp, marina, breakwater, dock, buoy-designated hazard or keep-out, any dam inlet or outlet structure, and where prohibited as posted
  • For any child under the age of 13 unless accompanied by an adult

Boats (including Stand-up paddleboards) are prohibited within the buoyed swim area.
