Boyd Lake State Park is a water-recreation haven in northern Colorado. The lake lies at the westernmost edge of the plains, by the foot of snow-capped Long’s Peak and the mountains of the Continental Divide.
The park attracts visitors who enjoy boating, camping, water skiing, swimming, fishing, paddlesports, picnicking, bicycling, walking, hunting and wildlife viewing. Boyd Lake State Park encompasses 2,082 acres with over 200 species of birds and 1,700 surface-acres of water.
Boyd Lake offers premier camping with 140 paved pull-through sites, equipped for vehicles up to 40 feet, offering 20-, 30- and 50-amp electric hook-ups, along with picnic tables and grills. The park features boat ramps, marina, accessible fishing pier, swim beach, and sand volleyball court.
Pets are allowed on Boyd Lake State Park but must be kept on a 6-foot leash at all times.
Mariner Point Group Picnic Area
The Mariner Point Group Picnic Area is available from mid-May to mid-September and can accommodate up to 200 guests. The facility features a covered pavilion, 20 picnic tables (8 feet long), 2 food preparation countertops, electricity, running water, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, private playground, and private parking lot.

- Weekends and Holidays: $180 per day

Visitor Center
We sell Boat, Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) & Snowmobile registrations, hunting and fishing licenses, as well as Colorado State Park Passes. We do not make camping reservations at the office.
To register a boat, OHV, or snowmobile for the first time, you will need to provide some proof of ownership (Bill of Sale, out of state titles signed to the new owner, etc.) which should include:
- Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
- The make
- Model
- Year
- CC displacement (if applicable)
- Vessel length (if applicable)
If you do not have this information on your ownership paperwork, you will need to bring the boat, OHV, or snowmobile in for an inspection by a Ranger.
