Island Acres Section Facilities

The Island Acres Section offers year-round camping with 80 campsites (40 full hook-up sites, including 4 with 50 amp connections; 34 electric sites with 30 amp connections; and 6 basic sites) and serves as the eastern end of the “string of pearls.” Contact: (970) 464-0548

Island Acres has diverse stands of Rio Grande cottonwoods including several large, mature trees on the west side of the park. The trees provide shade for visitors cooling off from the summer heat and nesting opportunities for bald eagles that frequent the area to take advantage of the year-round fishery. The park’s convenient location also provides easy access to Palisade for visitors interested in agritourism through the peach orchards and vineyards.

Open year-round for camping and day-use, this section provides opportunities for camping, fishing, hiking, and picnicking close to the river or lakes. The Island Acres Section Visitor Center is located between the Roans Pothole and Old Orchard Pond. Hours: Open April through October. Please call 970-464-0548 for current hours.

Swim Beach: The swim beach is located on the west end of the park in the day use area. Open May 1 through Labor Day. No dogs, glass, fires, or boats are allowed on the beach or in the water.
