The Colorado River State Park was renamed James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park in 2005 to honor a visionary, Mr. Robb, who was instrumental in creating this park as a “string of pearls.” The park is split into five distinct sections offering different outdoor recreation opportunities.

Who was James M. Robb?

James M. Robb was a civic leader, former parks board member and chair, elected representative, and champion of state parks. He helped create the Colorado Riverfront Foundation, envisioning the Grand Junction-area park as a “string of pearls.” Collaborative efforts are underway to build a future 35-mile river corridor trail system to connect this unique park.
