Boat Ramps

The boat ramp is located on the southwest area of the park. It’s a two-lane concrete ramp with a 4% grade. There are 38 parking spaces available for vehicles with trailers. (Updated: 10/6/2017 9:56 AM)

Campgrounds

ELKHEAD RESERVOIR STATE PARK DOES NOT HAVE POTABLE RUNNING WATER.

Bear’s Ears campground is located across the dam at the reservoir and has 16 basic sites. Pronghorn Campground is located just north of the Ski Beach and Boat Ramp and has 30 electric sites.

Each site has shade shelters, picnic tables, and fire rings. Bathroom facilities are located throughout both campgrounds. Water can be obtained at the Yampa River State Park office for your stay at Elkhead Reservoir State Park.

Dump Station

There is no dump station at the Elkhead Reservoir campgrounds.

If you have purchased a camping permit you may use the dump station at the Yampa River State Park Headquarters Campground near Hayden. Please check in at the office to confirm camping reservation before dumping. (Updated: 5/24/2024 11:15 AM)

Picnic Sites

Picnic sites are located at the boat ramp, swim (East) beach, ski beach, and the northeast access. (Updated: 10/6/2017 9:57 AM)

Swim Beach

Colorado State Park swim beaches do not have lifeguards on duty. Swim at your own risk. Children must be supervised by adults at all times. (Updated: 4/6/2020 8:44 AM)
