Camping
Camping at all state parks now requires a reservation.
Reservations for Bear’s Ears or Pronghorn campground can be made on www.cpwshop.com or by calling (800) 244-5613.
There are 16 non-electric campsites at the Bear’s Ears Campground which is located north of the reservoir’s dam.
There are 30 electric campsites at the Pronghorn Campground which is located north of the reservoir’s boat ramp.
Note: The park has a total of 42-46 campsites across both campgrounds.
Amenities for both campgrounds include: fire pits, parking pads, picnic tables, shade shelters, and restrooms. Many of these campsites are near the shoreline and may be accessible by boat.
Not available: No water or a dump station is available at Elkhead, but both water and a dump station are available (starting May 1st) at Yampa River State Park headquarters which is located about 12 miles west.
