Cabins and Yurts

Ten camper cabins provide cozy overnight ambiance. Please contact the Steamboat Lake Marina at (970) 879-7019. Visit their website: www.steamboatlakemarina.com

Leave your tent at home and stay in one of two yurts available at Pearl Lake year-round. For reservations, please visit the camping reservation page​​.

Camper Services Building

PLEASE HELP US CONSERVE WATER!

Facilities include button-operated FREE showers, flush toilets, and laundry facilities. This facility is available annually from May through October and is closed each day from 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM for cleaning.

Please help us take care of our amenities​ and do not dump or flush sanitary wipes, diapers, or any other foreign material in vault toilets, flushable toilets, and the dump station. These items cause costly repairs to our wastewater system and can lead to the dump station and Camper Services Building being closed.

Campgrounds

Campsites are by reservation only from Memorial Day weekend to October 1st. Campsites are first come-first served from October 1st to Memorial Day Weekend 2024. Campgrounds will be closed for the season based on weather conditions.

Reservations can be made six months in advance on cpwshop.com or by calling 1-800-244-5613. For details about camping, see the Camping and Cabins page.

There are 188 non-electric and/or electric campsites, mostly sunny and some with natural shade, with a number near the shoreline. Sites 181-200 are walk-in tent sites (You park and carry your stuff to your site. Wheelbarrows available for use). NO ROOF TOP TENTS ALLOWED IN THESE SITES.

The water hydrants in the Bridge Island walk-in sites will be unavailable for use due to maintenance issues. Available hydrants include: The ​fill station at the Dutch Hill Campground, the hydrants by sites 166 and 173 in Bridge Island.

Dump Station

The dump station is located in the Dutch Hill Campground area and is accessible from May through October. Usage of this facility requires both a State Park camping permit and vehicle parks pass.

Fishing Piers

A fishing pier is available at Sage Flats.

Marina

Dock, cabin, and boat rentals, fuel, snacks, camping supplies and firewood are available. The Marina may be reached at (970) 879-7019 or at steamboatlakemarina.com.

Picnic Sites

Picnic areas near the shore or in the trees provide tables with fire rings or grills.

Swim Beach

The swim area is located adjacent to the Marina parking lot in the Dutch Hill Campground. The Placer Cove Swim Beach, located in the day use area behind the Visitor Center, is tested regularly throughout the summer for water quality. Colorado State Park swim beaches do not have lifeguards on duty. Swim at your own risk. Children must be supervised by adults at all times.

Trails

​Steamboat Lake State Park is home to one of the best short trails in Colorado: the 1.1 mile Tombstone Nature Trail.

Other trails provide opportunities for hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling inside the park and in the Routt National Forest.

Visitor Center

​​Enjoy the picturesque mountain scenery surrounding Steamboat Lake while relaxing in the rocking chairs at the Visitor Center. Browse the display area and learn about nature and area history. Purchase park passes, camping permits, fishing and hunting licenses, registrations for OHV’s, snowmobiles, and boats. Books and maps of the area are available at the gift shop.

The Visitor Center summer hours (as staffing allows):

  • Sunday-Thurs: 8am-4pm
  • Friday-Saturday: 8am-6pm​
