The popular campsites at Rifle Gap are spread out along the northern shore of the reservoir. Campers like Rifle Gap’s campgrounds for their wide-open sites, breathtaking views of the reservoir, and spectacular mountain vistas. To get the most out of the camping adventure, guests should plan early; sites fill quickly.

Camping at all state parks now requires a reservation.

Campground users must have a camping permit and a parks entrance pass. Please camp only in constructed sites, and display the camp permit in the plastic holder at the campsites.

Campsites

Rifle Gap State Park has 5 campgrounds: Cottonwood, Lakeview, Cedar, Sage, and Pinyon, providing 89 campsites.

Cottonwood Campground

Cottonwood Campground sits on the water’s edge and can accommodate tents, small trailers, large motor homes, and pickup campers. Campsites include electric hook-ups with water facilities available throughout the loop. Restrooms with flush toilets and coin-operated showers are located in the center of the camping loop.

Lakeview Campground

Lakeview Campground sits on top of the hill with a spectacular view of the reservoir and the mountainside. It includes paved RV/tent sites and walk-in tent sites. The RV/tent sites can accommodate tents, small trailers, large motor homes, and pickup campers with pull-through sites and back-in sites. They include full hookups with water, sewer, and electric, and also have picnic tables and fire pits. The walk-in tent sites are nestled within pinion and juniper trees, providing some privacy. They are basic sites and include covered picnic tables and fire pits. Restrooms with flush toilets and coin-operated showers are located in the center of the campground.

Cedar Campground

Cedar Campground sits up on the hill along the water’s edge, and can accommodate tents, small trailers, large motor homes, and pickup campers with pull-through sites and back-in sites. Campsites include electric hook-ups with shared water facilities available throughout the loop. Flush toilets, vault toilets, and showers are located in the center of the campground.

Sage Campground

Sage Campground is adjacent to CPW and BLM property, and provides easy access for OHV use. Campsites are basic and can accommodate tents, small trailers, large motor homes, and pickup campers with pull-through sites and back-in sites. Campsites include covered picnic tables and fire pits. Vault toilets are located in the center of the campground.

Pinyon Campground

Pinyon Campground sits up on the hill overlooking the water, and is nestled within pinion and juniper trees, providing some privacy. Campsites are basic and can accommodate tents, small trailers, and pickup campers with pull-through sites and back-in sites. They include picnic tables and fire pits. Vault toilets are located near the campground.

Dump Station

Our holding tank dump station is available for all registered campers, and is located across from the Cottonwood campground.
