Yurts
Yurts are available year-round by reservation only. For more information, call the park office. Also, check the Fees page for rate information.
Architectural Digest magazine considers these round tent-like structures to be “architectural wonders.” Warm in winter and cool in summer, they’re a great way to camp without having to “set up.”
The three yurts at the Dutch Charlie area provide an alternative to RV and tent camping.
Ridgway Yurts have a wooden lattice wall and ceiling, pinewood floors, a ceiling light/fan and a screened skylight in the center of the domed roof. Several large screened windows and a ceiling fan keep these ultra-modern tents cool and comfortable in the summer, while the insulated walls and thermostat-controlled propane heater/gas log stove keep them warm and cozy in the winter.
Drinking water is available at water hydrants located directly across from the yurts. Dumpsters and trash cans are close by. Showers and laundry facilities are available at the Camper Services building Memorial Day through Labor Day. A year-round restroom is located next to Yurt #10, the designated universally accessible yurt.
Each yurt will sleep up to six people and provides:
- One pair of twin-sized bunks and two queen-sized futons
- Couch seating (when futons are folded up)
- A thermostat-controlled propane gas log stove for heat
- A small round table and six chairs
- A front porch/deck with a picnic table, an elevated barbecue grill and a ground-level campfire ring
- A small microwave oven and refrigerator
- Electrical outlets and a ceiling light
- A wooden door with a combination lock. Combinations are routinely changed and are given to renters through the reservation service or upon arrival at the park
We recommend visitors bring:
- Bedding, such as sleeping bags and/or sheets, blankets and pillows
- Camping style cooking supplies
- Eating utensils
Cooking is done outside but permitted inside the yurts during bad weather. When cooking inside, please open the windows to allow for plenty of ventilation and avoid frying foods. Only stoves, lanterns, or other appliances designed for indoor use may be used inside. Please do not attempt to cook on the gas heater! To discourage wildlife from entering, the area must be kept clean, and all food should be stored in hard containers.
Pets are allowed only in yurts 12 and #14 for a $10 fee, which is collected while making your online or phone reservation. The yurt sites can accommodate a tent or RV, but please contact the park office for fee information.
