Park Facilities

Boat Ramps

A boat ramp services the 167 acre reservoir for a leisurely paddle along the shore or wakeless gas/electric boating. Campers can leave their boats along shore or trailered in the boat ramp parking lot. Contact the park office or view the CPW Boating page, for specific guidelines.

Boats need to be inspected before entering the water for Aquatic Nuisance Species. Inspections can be done at the Marina Boat Ramp and Steamboat Lake.

Current Inspection Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 7am-7pm
  • Friday to Sunday: 7am to 8pm

All trailered, motorized and sail-powered vessels must be inspected prior to launching. Any violators going around locked gates or otherwise launching without inspection will be cited.

Cabins and Yurts

Two yurts (permanent, round tents on a wooden frame) are available year-round. Both of yurts have a minimum night stay of two nights.

  • Yurt #16 is pet-friendly. A daily pet deposit (per pet) is required and must be paid at the Steamboat Lake visitor center.
  • Yurt #6 is not pet-friendly, and pets are not allowed inside.

From the last week in October (this may vary depending upon weather) until Memorial Day, the road to access the yurts is closed due to snow. The yurts are then only accessible by snowshoe, ski, or snowmobile. The trail into the yurts takes approximately 6 to 8 minutes to hike up the hill. There is no drinking water available at the yurts during the winter months.

Cooking and smoking are not permitted inside either of the yurts.

For more information, see the Camping & Yurts page.

There are 34 campsites and two yurts surrounded by views of mountains and the lake. Snow conditions generally permit summer camping facilities to be open from the latter part of May through mid-October.
