Horseback Riding

Hunters accessing Lone Mesa with a permit may use horses. No overnight facilities are currently available on the park, but staff can assist with finding good horse camping on Forest Service lands just off-park.
All hay brought into the park is required to be certified weed-free.

Hunting

Elk, deer, and black bear hunting is permitted on Lone Mesa by a limited number of Special Use Permits.
See the park’s Hunting page or contact Mancos State Park with questions at (970) 533-7065. A link to apply for permit applications will be available on the website following results of the primary draw on May 28 at 9 am - ending on June 20, 2024 at 4 pm.

OHV Riding

Hunters accessing the park with a permit may use Off Highway Vehicles (aka ATVs, four-wheelers, etc.) on Lone Mesa. OHVs are restricted to established motor vehicle routes and must be currently registered. Resident registrations are available at the park office, 42545 Road N, Mancos, and the Area 15 Office, 151 E 16th St, Durango. Non-resident permits are available anywhere licenses are sold and at the CPW store online. Renewals of currently-registered machines can be done online.
