Park Facilities

Archery Range

Lathrop State Park now has an archery range open to the public. West of the main entrance on Hwy 160, you will see the entrance gate and parking lot for this new archery range. (Updated: 1/12/2024 12:00 PM)

Boat Ramps

There is one boat ramp at Martin Lake and one boat ramp on the north side of Horseshoe Lake. ADA accessible kayak/canoe launch is located on the southside of Horseshoe Reservoir. (Updated: 1/12/2024 12:01 PM)

Campgrounds

Lathrop has 103 campsites and three group-camping areas. The campgrounds accommodate motor homes, trailers, and tents, and offer either a basic or improved camping experience.

Amenities include:

  • Water hydrants
  • Fire pits
  • Picnic tables
  • Trash cans
  • Dump station

Conference Rooms

A conference room which will seat 40 people is available for rent. Amenities include white board, screen and projector.

Entrance Station

Self-Service/Kiosk Pay Station located by the drive-up window is available to purchase Daily park pass, Annual park pass, and Family Hang tag pass when the Visitor Center is closed. (Updated: 1/12/2024 12:03 PM)

Group Campground

The Los Alamos group camping area accommodates seven RVs and provides electrical hookups, a water hydrant, a picnic shelter, horseshoe pit, and a volleyball pit.

We have two group sites in the Yucca Campground:

  • Group A non-electric (tent)
  • Group B electric (RV and tent)

Reservations are required and can now be made 6 months in advance and be done by visiting www.cpwshop.com or by calling (800) 244-5613.

Horse Trailer Parking

Purchase a daily pass at the Visitor Center or Self Service and you may haul your horses to the West side of Horseshoe Reservoir. Park your horse trailer in the established equestrian parking areas and ride or walk your horses on the established horse trail. Water can be obtained at the entrance of Yucca Campground. Showers

Pay showers are open in Pinon campground. Change Machines are available at the shower stations. About $1.00 in quarters is usually sufficient for a shower. (Updated: 1/12/2024 12:03 PM)

Trails

The Cuerno Verde Trail around Martin Lake and the Hogback Trail on the North side of the park are great walking trails.

  • Bicycles are allowed on Cuerno Verde Trail.
  • Dogs are allowed on either trail as long as they are kept on a leash.
  • An established Horse Trail is on the West side of Horseshoe Lake and is well marked, with an equestrian parking area. (Updated: 1/12/2024 12:03 PM)

Visitor Center

The Visitor Center has park passes, camping, fishing/hunting licenses, boat/ohv/snowmobile registrations, a gift and book store, firewood, bagged ice, brochures on local attractions and Colorado regulations brochures, ice cream, bait, and soft drinks. (Updated: 1/12/2024 10:37 AM)
