Park Facilities

Amphitheater

Prairie Falcon Event Facility is an outdoor amphitheater with rock-step-amphitheater-style seating. The facility is open May - October and will accommodate a maximum of 160 people. Advance reservations are necessary and a fee is required. Reservations must be made through the park office. Rental information is available on the Group Rentals page.

Camper Services Building

This seasonal location offers showers and coin-operated laundry facilities, an activity room, and an adjacent playground for the kids. Quarters are available at the Visitor Center between 9am to 4pm. Campers, please stop by the Visitor Center for assistance with park passes, site check-ins, and camping reservations.

Campgrounds

There are 51 full-service sites offering water, sewer, and 20/30/50 amp electrical service. Also included in a full-service site are a tent pad, picnic table, and fire pit. There are 10 basic, walk-in tent sites that offer a tent pad, picnic table, and fire pit. During winter camping months, we request that hoses and hose connections do not remain connected to the campsite water spigots. If hoses are left connected to the stem, even if the hose is disconnected from your RV, it may create a vacuum and hold water inside the spigot where it can freeze and damage the water spigot. For general camping information, visit the Cheyenne Mountain camping page.

Electric Vehicle Charging Station

Two charging stations are located in the Visitor Center parking lot. They are first come, first serve and accessible 6 am to 10 pm daily with the cost of the park entry fee. Specific station information is at Chargehub.com.

Event Facilities

The Prairie Skipper Event Picnic Pavilion is available for daily rentals May-October. The facility will accommodate 200 people and has parking for 85 vehicles. The area boasts a covered pavilion complete with electric service, picnic tables, restroom facilities, a playground, and a parking lot. Advance reservations and a fee are required for use. See the Group Rentals page and contact the park office for information and availability.

Picnic Sites

All 41 day-use picnic areas have a picnic table, charcoal grill, and provide quick access to our trail system. While leashed pets are welcome in the developed picnic areas, please note that dogs are only allowed on select trails. All waste must be picked up immediately and disposed of properly. A number of accessible picnic sites are available for people with disabilities.

Showers

If the Camper Services shower facilities are closed for the winter, a single shower will remain available at the Meadows Campground bathroom facility. If closed for the season, we anticipate that the Camper Services showers will reopen on or about March 1.

Trails

There are 21 trails totaling 28 miles that meander through grasslands, Gambel oak, and fir/pine forests. Remember, smoking is not permitted on the trails. Dogs are only allowed on designated trails, and are strictly prohibited on other trails. See the Trails page for more info.

Visitor Center

The Visitor Center is open daily to the public 9:00am-4:00pm Oct. 1-Apr. 30, and 9:00am-5:00pm May 1-Sept. 30. Inside exploration of the Visitor Center can be fun, too. Besides buying passes and picking up park information, you can also soak up the view on the outdoor patio or inside by the stone fireplace. Check out the educational and interpretive displays, or browse the gift shop for books, clothing, drinks, and more! There is a self-serve station for daily passes during and after park hours. The main park office is located in the Visitor Center.
